Barry Cooper's family and friends leave St John's after the service

St John's Church in Devizes was full to capacity this afternoon for the funeral of 28-year-old Barry Cooper who was murdered in the town at the end of June.

His flower-bedecked coffin was carried into the church by friends and relatives for the short service before the cortege moved off to the committal at West Wiltshire Crematorium in Semington.

The Rev Chris Tebbutt, vicar of St James Church, Southbroom, took the service, which was held at St John's as St James is currently being renovated.

He led the coffin from the church after the service.

Many mourners were in tears after the poignant service, during which tributes were paid to Mr Cooper.

A reception was due to take place at the Cavalier public house in Eastleigh Road.
