Thieves have stolen a metal car grabber weighing three quarters of a tonne.
The theft took place at Jones' scrap yard on Caen Hill, Devizes overnight on Saturday.
The metal claw attaches to a larger vehicle in order to pick up and move scrapped cars around the yard.
Police believe criminals entered the yard from the rear before somehow dragging the grabber onto a large truck or lorry.
They would now like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious.
Witnesses should call police on 0845 408 7000.
